Timbaland, who's crafted hits for Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado, wants to help Britney Spears reclaim her once-stellar career.
"I feel her pain, it really bothers me," the 34-year-old
rapper-producer says in an interview in Entertainment Weekly magazine's
March 16 issue. "I'm the type of person who tries to save the world. I
just want to take her away, go overseas, and work (it) out."
Timbaland says he invited Timberlake, his "best friend" and Spears' ex-boyfriend, to be part of that plan.

Bono is taking a page from Vanity Fair. Actually, make that several hundred pages.
The U2 frontman and activist has signed on to helm the magazine's
Africa-themed July issue, which will hit newsstands in early June.
making him the publication's first-ever guest editor.
"As guest editor, I want Africa to appear an adventure, not a burden,
and put faces and personalities to the statistics we read elsewhere,"
the Dublin native said in a statement.

George Michael,
who was arrested after police found him slumped over the steering wheel
of his car in an intersection in north London last October, will face
an additional charge, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
No date has been set for trial on the charges, which stem from an Oct. 1 incident.

A bass player from Uptown Kingston and drummer from Woodstock this
spring and summer will tour for a second time with pop rocker and No
Doubt front woman Gwen Stefani.
Gail
Ann Dorsey, who has played bass in David Bowie's band for years; and
drummer Zach Alford, a veteran of the B-52's, will back Stefani as she
tours the country in support of her second solo record, "The Sweet
Escape.'

Jimi Hendrix's family filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday over the use of the guitar legend's name to market a brand of vodka.
The family claims in the lawsuit that companies owned by Seattle
businessman Craig Dieffenbach used trademarked material to market
Hendrix Electric Vodka and other products.
Janie Hendrix, Hendrix's adopted sister and chief executive of
Experience Hendrix, the family's company, said the promotional campaign
was a "sick joke" because Hendrix's death in 1970 was tied to alcohol
consumption.

Omaha stage. A saxophone lilted a practice arpeggio, the audience
quieted, and the ushers vanished.
Then a moving staircase pushed a petite woman to the stage front, and a spotlight illuminated her body.
It was Christina Aguilera, all jazzed up.

Music World/Columbia Records will release Beyonce's “B'Day” Deluxe
Edition, an expanded two-CD edition of the pop star’s best-selling
Grammy-winning solo album, on April 3.
In addition to the
original 12 tracks from Beyonce's multi-platinum album, Disc One
premieres five brand-new songs in English: "Kissing You," "Flaws &
All," "Welcome To Hollywood," a hidden bonus track, "Worldwide Woman,"
and the expanded album's first single, "Beautiful Liar," a duet between
Beyonce and Shakira.

Britney Spears claimed she was the "Antichrist" before trying to commit suicide, it has been reported.
The
troubled singer - who is currently in Malibu's Promises rehab centre -
scribbled 666 on her shaved head and terrified staff by screaming, "I
am the Antichrist!".
A source told Britain's News of the World
newspaper: "She was crying and shouting, 'I am the Antichrist!' Then
she started screaming, 'I'm a fake!'

A lawsuit has been filed against Sean "Diddy" Combs, alleging the music
mogul punched and pushed the plaintiff and his girlfriend at a
Hollywood nightclub.
Gerard Rechnitzer is seeking unspecified
compensatory and punitive damages in the suit, which was filed Friday
in Los Angeles Superior Court.
An attorney for Combs called the suit "completely baseless." Police are investigating the alleged incident.
Rechnitzer, 27, claims he and his girlfriend ran into
Combs at the club, Teddy's, inside the Roosevelt Hotel in the early
morning hours of Feb. 25.

Maroon 5 will release its sophomore album, "It Won't Be
Soon Before Long," May 22 via the new A&M/Octone Records
partnership. The first single is "Makes Me Wonder."
The 12-track set is the follow-up to 2002's "Songs
About Jane," which has sold 4.3 million units in the United States,
according to Nielsen SoundScan. It features production by Mike
Elizondo, Mark "Spike" Stent, Eric Valentine and Mark Endert.
"It's like 'Songs About Jane,' but more danceable,"
guitarist James Valentine recently said of the new album, adding that
"the beats are definitely harder" but that there are "also some mellow
vibes."

An uncharacteristically short three years after their last disc, 2004's
"To the 5 Boroughs," the Beastie Boys are putting the finishing touches
on a new record. "Hopefully that'll be out this summer, too," group
member Adam Yauch tells.
Though he remained characteristically tight-lipped
about details, Yauch says the Beasties plan to air out some of the new
material in a series of dates this summer, including a headlining slot
at the Sasquatch Festival, to be held May 26-27 at the Gorge
Amphitheatre in George, Wash.

The Police have unveiled dates for late summer/early fall European
tour, beginning Aug. 29 in Stockholm. So far, 13 shows are confirmed,
although additional dates in Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, and Denmark
are pending, according to the band's Web site.
In Europe, the Police will play a mix of indoor arenas
and outdoor stadiums. Some tickets begin going on sale tomorrow (March
6) via the band's fan club.
This leg of the tour will follow the instantly
sold-out North American run that begins May 28 in Vancouver. After
Europe, the Police will return to North America for more shows.

Reunited former boy band Take That added another U.K. No. 1 single to
its collection (March 4) as "Shine" (Polydor) rose 10-1.
Kaiser Chiefs, who led the survey last week with "Ruby"
(B-Unique/Polydor) and are now No. 2, had the major consolation of
debuting at the top of the album chart with their sophomore set, "Yours
Truly, Angry Mob."

Kelis was charged early Friday with trying to disrupt an undercover
police operation by screaming racial profanities and rushing toward two
female officers posing as prostitutes, Miami Beach, Fla., authorities
said.
Kelis Rogers-Jones, 27, was detained at 4:30 a.m. and
charged with the two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and
resisting arrest without violence, a Miami Beach police arrest report
said.

Björk has set a release date for her new album, "Volta." According to her Web site,
the Atlantic effort will drop May 7 and with feature guest appearances
from LFO's Mark Bell, drummer Chris Corsano (Sonic Youth, Six Organs Of
Admittance) and Chinese pipa player Min Xiao-Fen.
She also assembled at
10-piece all-female brass section, formed of musicians from her home
country Iceland.
The singer/songwriter has tapped Timbaland, Antony Hegarty of Antony
and the Johnsons and Lightning Bolt's Brian Chippendale for the effort
as well.
