he got a batch of the tainted sushi at that Sports Illustrated party.
As it is, the rap impresario got a double dose of bad news this week
after getting accused of battery at a post-Oscar bash in Hollywood and
losing a dispute in a British courtroom over the use of his Diddy
nickname in the U.K.

Jay Kay is quitting music, he has announced. The Jamiroquai star's
deal with SonyBMG is understood to have ended recently, prompting the
decision to retire.
In confirming the news, Kay said he was "bored" but suggested he might be back if his "inspiration" returns.
He explained: "I haven't been happy there for a while. I've had some
ups and downs but in the end the downs were just too many. When we
talked about me leaving, I jumped at the chance. I'm bored. I don't
want to go back on the road. We all need a rest, to be honest. I don't
need the money or a deal."

Mick Jagger is to make a film with Martin Scorsese, it has been announced.
The Rolling Stones legend and acclaimed director, who won his first Oscar earlier this week, will collaborate on The Long Play.
The movie is understood to be about two friends and their lives in rock music, reports the BBC.

Justin Hawkins is competing to appear at this year's Eurovision Song
Contest, it has emerged.
The former Darkness frontman is understood to
be one of six acts in the running to represent the U.K. at the event in
Finland.
Hawkins, who quit the Darkness last year after entering rehab for drug addiction, is understood to be planning a solo career.
However, his first project will see him go up against former East 17
star Brian Harvey, ex-Atomic Kitten Liz McClarnon, and hip-hop group
Big Brovaz.

Mel C is blocking the reunion of the Spice Girls, group's former manager, Simon Fuller, has claimed.
Fuller says they are planning to return "with a big bang," which will include a world tour but no new material.
However, Melanie "Sporty Spice" Chisholm is apparently uncertain about
getting involved while she continues to pursue a solo career.
Fuller commented: "All of the girls are up for it and the reunion will
definitely happen in the next 18 months. The only person showing any
reluctance is Mel C.

Britney Spears is not on suicide watch, her manager has insisted.
The troubled pop star is understood to have entered rehab for a third
time in a week last Wednesday, after very publicly shaving her head.
Over the weekend, pictures of her apparently attacking a car with an
umbrella were published in the global media, prompting further fears
about her mental health.

Guns N' Roses have put back their new album, Chinese Democracy, although the group remains confident of an imminent release.
The long-awaited record was recently scheduled to come out in March, a
considerable number of years since being originally mooted.
However, this deadline now looks set to pass, although a posting on
their official website suggests the album is definitely nearing
completion.

Bobby Brown paid $19,000 in late child support and court fees and was freed after spending three nights in the Norfolk County jail.
Brown, who was released Wednesday night, was scheduled to appear
Thursday in Norfolk Probate and Family Court, a familiar place for the
38-year-old singer, who has a long history of failing to pay support on
time.
A judge had ordered Brown held in the county jail in Dedham until he
made the payments after he was arrested while watching his daughter's
cheerleading competition at Attleboro High School.

A million-dollar record deal for an up-and-coming rap artist was put
in jeopardy when a Baltimore County judge issued a bench warrant for
his arrest, an attorney for the singer said.
Circuit Judge Patrick Stringer issued a warrant Wednesday for the
arrest of Kevin Barnes, 22, for failure to appear in connection with a
2001 robbery.
Barnes, who calls himself Young City onstage, was 16 when he allegedly
approached a couple near Eastpoint Mall, flashed a BB gun and took $90.
He was arrested at the scene and made early court appearances, but
eventually assumed the charges had been dropped, his lawyer told the
court.

Foxy Brown pleaded guilty Thursday to a probation violation for leaving New York without permission.
Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson said Brown's sentence
will continue the six months' probation she is already serving. But
Jackson warned that if there are any other probation infractions, "I'm
reserving the right to resentence you to jail for one year."
The 27-year-old rapper was arrested Feb. 15 in a fracas at a beauty
supply store in Pembroke Pines, Fla. Police charged her with resisting
an officer and simple battery.

Paul McCartney
and his estranged wife, Heather Mills McCartney, appeared in London's
High Court on Thursday for a preliminary hearing in their divorce case.
Mills McCartney, 38, said nothing as she arrived at the courthouse for
the closed door session. The 64-year-old former Beatle arrived at the
court's backdoor soon after.

"American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks needs his Soul Patrol to step
up.
They were certainly there for him around this time last year, when
he was building up a feverish fan base, named the "Soul Patrol."
The
things about him that irked Simon Cowell — that mop of gray hair and
the herky-jerky dance moves that conjured up images of dorky dads loose
at a wedding reception — were instead embraced by millions, who later
handed him the "Idol" title over the likes of talented hotties
Katharine McPhee and Chris Daughtry.

Forty years ago, the Doors' Jim Morrison seduced Hollywood with his
wild moves and wilder poetry. On Wednesday, the rock band cemented its
legendary status with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Doors' keyboardist Ray Manzarek, 68, and guitarist Robby Krieger, 61, showed up minus drummer John Densmore for the dedication of the walk's 2,325th star.

The parade of Police sellouts
continues, with shows in Denver, Seattle and Oakland selling out over
the weekend, and Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., selling out
today (Feb. 26).
On Saturday, Pepsi Center in Denver sold out, with a
second show added (June 9-10), and Key Arena in Seattle sold out, also
with a second show added (June 6-7).
McAfee Stadium in Oakland sold out Sunday at 48,000
tickets. Giants Stadium sold out today at 56,000 tickets, as did Dodger
Stadium at 52,000.

A prospective Van Halen tour with original frontman David Lee Roth has
derailed. Sources tell that the decision to postpone the
outing indefinitely was not due to any internal strife among band
members.
Insiders close to the situation say a tour is still in the
works and will happen, though when is anybody's guess.
