Filippa Hamilton-Palmstierna was born December 3, 1983, in Paris, France, and was raised in Biarritz on the Basque coast. It didn’t take long for this breathtaking beauty to be discovered, and she was ultimately plucked out of obscurity at the age of 15 when she and her mother entered a mother/daughter modeling competition on a whim.

Filippa soon signed with a prominent Parisian modeling agency and, by 2002, she appeared in her first of many runway shows for Ralph Lauren. Although walking the catwalk is now old hat, Filippa remembers being terrified the first time she appeared in a major runway show. “I was so nervous,” she admits. “When I was walking down the runway I was just [trying] to not fall down and be proud and happy.” Fortunately, she managed to stay on her feet and Filippa appeared in more shows that year for An American View, Balenciaga and Jill Stuart. She also graced her first magazine cover when she appeared in the French and Spanish editions of Vogue.
