Christina Aguilera, My Chemical Romance, country trio Rascal Flatts, Toni Braxton
and rap group Three 6 Mafia were among the celebrities who performed to
over a million attendees on a chilly New York night in Times Square to
mark the new year.
The Times Square party set new litter records with city workers picking
up more than 3.5 tons of confetti from the streets around New York's
party central.
But New York wasn't the only place for celebrity parties staged to
welcome in 2007 - Las Vegas also staged a series of starry bashes.
Former couple Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson hosted rival club parties,
but Britney Spears was the main attraction at Caesar's Palace nightclub Pure.

Jessica Simpson will have a hard time denying reports that she's
fallen for singer John Mayer, especially after the two were caught in a
"full-on making out" session as they rang in 2007.
The couple has been denying that they are an item since August 2006
when reports first started circulating that the two were seeing each
other.
However a source at the Hudson Hotel party thrown by Christina Aguilera
said that the Mayer and Simpson didn't leave any guests in doubt that
they were a couple.
"He was scratching her back, they were kissing, it wasn't subtle," the New York Daily News quoted the source, as saying.

While
Jessica Simpson continues to date Luke Wilson and John Mayer
simultaneously, it seems she considers none of them important enough to
buy gifts for.
According NW Magazine, Jessica just can't
let go of her ex Nick Lackey, as she continues to shop for her
self-confessed "horrible" dresser ex-husband.
Simpson
has been sending singer Lachey a series of hand-picked gifts, much to
the displeasure of his girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo.
"She's always buying him gifts," the Bosh quoted an insider, as saying.

Singers Jessica Simpson and John Mayer have once again been seen together in New
York, though they still deny being a couple.
This time they were seen at the jewelry counter at Barneys on Madison Avenue,
where it looked like Mayer was buying Simpson a gift, The New York Post reported.
The two were giggling and dancing in front of the glass display case, and Mayer
was also holding Simpson's hands in his own, the Post said.
They looked very happy together, said one of the onlookers. They were having
fun and joking around.
This is the third time in recent weeks that the duo has been seen together,
the Post said.

LAS VEGAS — Britney Spears finally appears to be acting like a new mom.
The pop princess, who recently made headlines for a rash of
less-than-motherly hard partying, fell asleep in a Las Vegas nightclub
early Monday shortly after leading the New Year’s Eve countdown, her
manager said.
“By about one o’clock,
she was just done, so we took her out,” Spears’ manager, Larry Rudolph,
told The Associated Press on Monday. “She was not drunk. She was just
tired and falling asleep.”

The former keyboard player from rock band Procol Harum today (Dec. 20) won a share of future earnings from seminal 1967 hit "A Whiter Shade of Pale," which has sold around 10 million copies worldwide. In a written ruling at London's High Court, Judge William Blackburne said Matthew Fisher should get 40 percent of the copyright of the song. Fisher argued that he wrote the organ music to the song and so was entitled to joint authorship of the track alongside lead singer Gary Brooker, who is credited with its copyright.
