The Sea & Cake Eyeing May For Seventh Album

Sea & CakeChicago indie rock institution the Sea & Cake is eyeing a May release for its seventh Thrill Jockey studio album. Basic tracks were completed in a five-day session last month, and frontman Sam Prekop will spend the next week recording his vocals for the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2003's "One Bedroom."

Black Eyed Peas Finishing Up 'Fun' New Album

Black Eyed Peas Fergie The Black Eyed Peas aren't monkeying around on their follow-up to 2005's four million-selling "Monkey Business." Main Pea will.i.am tells Billboard.com that the quartet's next album is "almost finished" and "will come out this time next year" -- meaning the fourth quarter of 2007. At the same time, he says there's room for a lot more to happen before the group wraps things up.

Ono Driver Indicted, Jailed Without Bail

Yoko OnoThe chauffeur accused of trying to extort $2 million from Yoko Ono was indicted today (Dec. 19) on a charge of first-degree attempted grand larceny and jailed without bail because the judge said he is a potential flight risk.
Koral Karsan, 50, nattily dressed in a blue blazer with his hands cuffed behind him, pleaded not guilty before state Supreme Court Justice Michael Ambrecht.

Doors, Dead, Callas Earn Lifetime Grammys

The Doors

Influential rock bands the Doors and the Grateful Dead will receive lifetime achievement Grammy Awards next year, along with jazz saxophone player Ornette Coleman and the late opera singer Maria Callas.Other honorees include folk singer Joan Baez, soul musicians Booker T. & the MG's, and late country music icon Bob Wills.The statuettes will be handed out during a ceremony leading up to the main Grammy Awards, which take place in Los Angeles on Feb. 11.

Rock Legends Sue Over Graham-Sourced Recordings

Led Zeppelin - Listen to this EddieSome of rock'n'roll's biggest names have teamed up to sue the owner of a Web site that specializes in streaming rare concert recordings. Wolfgang's Vault offers thousands of recordings of rare audio and video performances collected over 30 years by legendary concert promoter Bill Graham, who died in 1991.Yesterday (Dec. 18), major rock names, including Grateful Dead Productions, Carlos Santana and members of Led Zeppelin and the Doors, sued the current owner, claiming it was illegally offering recordings to stimulate sales of other products. Wolfgang's Vault representatives were not immediately available for comment.

Rush Close To Wrapping New Album

Neil PeartRush is nearly finished recording its next studio album, which is expected sometime in 2007 via Atlantic. The tracks were put to tape at Allaire Studios in upstate New York with co-producer Nick Raskulinecz. "I have never enjoyed the recording process so much, nor been so satisfied with the results," drummer Neil Peart writes on his Web site.

Pearl Jam Picks Europe Over Bonnaroo

pearl-jam.jpgPearl Jam will play 13 shows in Europe in June and will not, as has been claimed, appear at this summer's Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tenn.


The band will play six headlining shows and appear at seven festivals, beginning June 8 in Lisbon. The trek runs through June 29 at Belgium's Werchter Festival.
