Luciano Pavarotti dies at 71 years old!

pavarotti-1-big.jpgLuciano Pavarotti, one of the most popular contemporary vocal performers in the world of opera has died today at 5:00 AM at his home in Modena, Itally, at the age of 71, according to his manager Terri Robinson! "The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterized his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness."

Although Pavoritti retired from staged opera in 2004, he started a farewell tour that would have marked the end of his career.

Unfortunately Pavarotti was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2006 and underwent emergency surgery to remove the tumor. Although the remaining concerts of his tour were canceled, his management said that he hoped to resume the tour in 2007.

In early August, Pavarotti was hospitalized in Modena with a fever and released 17 days later after undergoing diagnostic tests.
According to Robson, his wife, daughters and sister, along with other relatives and friends were at his side when he died.
It's sad that life is so short for people that really deserves to live more then just 71 years! He will be remembered as one of the greatest opera singer of all time, and even though we now cry the lost of a champion, he shall never be forgotten! Rest in peace Luciano Pavarotti!
